How to identify a Fire Ball

RatFink Feb 24, 2005 12:11 PM

Can anyone clarify the unique characteristics of a Fire Ball for me. In particular, does a fire ball have a belly similar to a Yellowbelly? Or is it a variant of the Mojave? Thanks, Richard

The ONE picture I've seen of a fireball belly was white (as best I remember, I only saw it briefly). I'm certainly not in a position to know if all or even most fireballs are like that. However, I do think white bellies tend to be the rule with the different leucistic and even Ivory hets (i.e. yellow bellies).

It will be very interesting to see if there is any link between the ones that create blue eyed leucistics (lesser, phantom, mojave) and the ones that create black eyed leucistics (fireball, high yellow lemon).

RDR now thinks that his goblin is a yellow belly and it didn't produce anything all white with phantom so perhaps that is good evidence that the yellow belly/Ivory gene is different than the lesser/phantom/mojave gene. Hard to even guess if high yellow lemon and fireball are related to each other or not much less related to either of the other two white snake groups.
