Hatchling?

Tiia Feb 24, 2005 01:56 PM

How do I know when my ciliatus eggs are going to hatch? I mean is there any signs just before hatchling? I have eggs incubating in my bookshelv and I´m waiting them to hatch any day. These are my very first ciliatus eggs and I´m quite exited...

either write it down and keep track when they are laid. i write it directly on the egg, and initial the gecko so i know who bred together to get it. check moisture every 2-3 days and allow for the eggs to ventilate for a bit. you can start checking for hatchlings at 65 days, but at 70-74 degrees they usually don't hatch for about 80 days. just start checking on them every day, morning and night and hope you come across one!

yea, taking note of that date the eggs were laid is your best bet. all i do with my eggs is keep them on moistened perlite in a small tupperware, and i even weigh the eggs throughout their incubation to get an idea on how the eggs are doing. once it reaches about the 60 day mark, i start watching over the tupperware pretty frequently to make sure i notice them ASAP.
