Female ready to shed and I want to mate her- How long does she stay with the male?

bmulcahy Feb 24, 2005 03:16 PM

I am ready to try breeding one of my female corns in my class and she is about ready to shed. When I put her in the male's tank, how long should I leave her? She is 2 and 1/2 years old and over 4 and 1/2 feet long so I think she is big enough for breeding. I know I wait till after to sheds to put her with the male. My big question is how long should she stay with him and is there any way to know id=f they mate other than getting lucky and seeing it.

Thanks!

Brian

I don't know how lucky you have to be to catch them in the act,Often they will go right at it. I put mine together for about 24 hours give them at least 3 days apart and reintroduce them. In the past I have put males in the females cages and its worked fine (not what is usualy recomended).I never concern myself with wether or not they have shed (agian maybe not what others would recomend). I can only tell you what has worked for me.
