I picked up my first satanic nearly a week ago at a local herp show. She was well hydrated and a round body with no signs of ribs. I had a ten gallon with moss for a substrate, 1/4 in bamboo sticks and a golden pothos ready when I got her home. Humidty is at 80 to 90 percent and the temp between 70 to 75 with a small drop a night. I mist the cage 3 times a day. I have been feeding her 1/4 inch crix. I drop one in at a time and wait for her to lunge and reset her position to where see looks like she is scanning the cage floor for more then I drop in another(usually three a night. They are dusted with calcium with D3 and I have used a small amount of herptavite in the mix.
I found that the one at a time method keeps the crickets from having time to bury themselves in the substrate. I am not new to herp keeping but this is my first uroplatus and I wanted to make sure that I'm going about her care right. She was WC and I am still concerned about parasites. I am gonna pick up a male this sunday at another show and was wondering if I should house them seperatly until I'm sure they are established.
