Alergic to Bran - Need to find alternative

cornelius85 Jul 07, 2003 09:04 PM

As the subject line reads, I have found that it is getting unbearable. I need to know of some other alternative other than sand that will be just as good for the beardies as well as myself.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help.

blank newsprint or white paper towels. That's what I use.

Is there anything other than paper towel? I hate the plain look to the cage as well as the smell when they deficate will be that much stronger. I think I will have to suffer through the bran as I do not want to go back to sand. Is there not anything else that I can use??

see when my beardies poop and it stinks I take the towel and I throw it away. No more stinky :D

I prefer health over home decor. I'd wrather have happy, healthy beardies and happy healthy me than a "pretty" cage.

After all, people don't come to see my cage, they come to see my dragons :D

Another poster here, can't recall his name, used vinyl shelf liners for the bottom of his beardie cage. It was a no slip type so the beardie had great traction and vinyl is easy to clean. He just cut pieces to fit the cage and kept another one on hand to switch once in awhile for a more thorough cleaning. As shelf liner comes in a variety of colours and patterns, shouldn't be hard to find a pattern you like.

Another thing to use is ceramic tile, sealed with silocon so moisture etc can't get inbetween and underneath the tiles. Course this is a more permanent cage liner and a bit more expensive not to mention heavier, it probably isn't good for a cage you want to move around.
