normal behavior?

xruthlessx76 Feb 24, 2005 06:33 PM

my brb's have been in their humid hides the last 2 days every time i look in at them, are they trying to tell me something? i have the humid hide in the very middle of the cage, between the moist/dry sides, and the humidity gauge above the heat source/moist substrate is reading almost 80%
do they just normally stay in their hides? thanks

Hi,

I just got a BRB about two weeks ago, so I'm no expert, but my experience is similar to yours. I'd say my BRB spends about 95% of her time hiding under the substrate... I rarely see her, even at night. It's a shame, because the rainbows really have such beautiful colors!

BRBs don't seem to move around a lot unless they are hungry and are hunting. The first few nights after eating they just lay around but after that they become more and more active and seem to know which night is feeding night. I have a few that cruise their cages looking up waiting for me to get them out to feed. One of my female GRBs will come right to me on feeding night, yet at any other time she is shy.

If you want to see more of them get red lighting for your room or for over their cage. My female Campina grande is probably the most active snake I have, well at night anyway, she is out cruising most every night yet her male companion seldom comes out till a night or two before feeding.
