Boa Constrictor confusion

EricWI Feb 24, 2005 07:44 PM

I hope someone could help me here. Which species is Boa constrictor constrictor and which species is Boa constrictor imperator? Some sources say the common boa is BCI and redtails are BCC while others say otherwise. I'm confused??

Eric,
BCI are known as "common boas," or "Colombians." BCC are "true red-tails." Localities such as Suriname BCC and Guyanan BCC are difficult at best to measure since these borders are political and not physical. I hope this helps.
