I turned off the A/C unit to my hibernation box lofted in my snake room on Valentine's Day. Then next day I let the temps raise from 55F the day before to 65F, then I opened the door to the box. I then let them raise to room temp. of about 72F. The next day I put them on their shelves and turn on their heat. This takes about 4 days to do. I feed on the 5th day (the 19th). I fed much smaller items than usual and more food items. Not all accepted but alot did. Today (24th) I offered the same food items and all have eaten, some twice already. No regurging at all. I will feed on Sundays and Wednesdays from now until the females refuse before laying their clutches. After all their eggs are laid then more of a maintenance feeding schedule starts for the rest of the year. Some will get fed more and reintroduced to the males for fertile second clutches, but not all my females will.
Now I cannot wait until some females shed and lock up with the males.
What are some of your methods of warming them up and how long does it take for the breeders to hit feeding temps out of hibernation??
Thanks,
John Lassiter
