Herping Bay area - Marin and Sonoma counties - Ca. Red Sided Garter

I am looking to find Ca. Red Sided Garter Snakes. I have looked in suggested areas in Marin county last spring and summer and did not see one. Does anyone have any info on any spots to find some? Here is a pic. of a coastal my daughter found!
