Albino Bullsnake color

Ecnahc Feb 25, 2005 11:27 AM

I have this adult albino bullsnake, she has alot of red/orange in her pattern. Most other albinos i have seen are dull orange and yellow. I bred her to a snow bull last year and the end result was 50% albinos some with alot of lavendar coloring, and 50% were snows, in which a friend called albino whitesided. I am just getting started with pits, any suggestions or comments appreciated. I hope the picture shows.

WOW, very nice animals. I can't wait to hear what Jason Nelson has to say about the offspring. Hopefully he and a few others can let you know if anything out of the ordinary is going on. Best of luck with these guys. Tom Stevens

Thank you, the albino female is one of the prettiest i have personally seen. I was suprised when I had a 50/50 ratio of babies. I heldback the 2 small ones in the pictures. The adults have been locked up off and on for about a week. The picture above with the male biting the females head occured within less than 5 minutes of being introduced to each other. I have never brumated them, Last year she double clutched and gave me 19 eggs, 18 hatched. Then she dropped 11 more (unfortunately I was on vacation and lost the 2nd batch) I was suprised to only lose 1 egg without the use of a incubator. I stuck them in a non air conditioned bac bedroom in a rubbermaid filled with perilite. I have a big incubator this year made from a wine fridge hopefully i will have 100% sucess.

Very nice ones. Yours has very rich reddish orange, moreso that most. We have an opposite pair - albino male and female snow, which will be ready in another year(male is ready this year, but female is only 2yo). Yours must be het for whitesided to have produced the snows. We will likely get all albinos het for snow.

Generally, they are more pale orange as young, and then as they grow develop more contrasting yellow/red color. Ours looked much like the amel baby you showed when we got it, but it has developed very bright yellow coloration since then. It has more purplish color than yours, but isn't as bright red. This is an old pic of him, so he's brighter than this now.

From the pictures and the results you got, what you have is a pair of trumbower line animals. They are really awesome snakes, that you will cherish when compared to most of the other albino and albino white sided lines out on the market. Also you would probally find that the speckled bulls that we have pictured on the web page are in there in the genes also. here is an old pic of some of his original clutches, the reds in the line now days are deeper and redder.

PS email me if you want to discuss how to get some of them.

Thanks guys! I was hoping for some info on these. Both were produced in 1999. They are awesome snakes, I am looking foward to cutting down on my python collection, and building it with more pituophis. I'm looking for quite a few morphs, I suspect to be broke in July/August!!!! I took the offspring to a show here, and came home with none! I wish i would have held them all back now! LOL
John, I sent a email!
