New cage and wanting to add younger dragon to pair.

frogge99 Jul 07, 2003 09:47 PM

I have just gotten a new cage that is approx 6'tall X 4' X 2.5'. I have a 1:1 pair that are approx 2 yrs old and approx 17" in length each.(male shorter, has nipped tail. I have an 8mo old female that is approx 13". Is she too young to be introduced into the cage with them. They have seen each other while she was in her cage and George and Jane(2yr olds) were loose. She did her hand waving showing her submissiveness. I am trying to cut back on cages but don't want to take the chance on her getting hurt. Thanks for any info. Sorry this is so long.

That is a pretty big size difference. Also a 2 year old male is certainly breeding age. An 8 month old almost certainly isn't mature enough to breed safely. But she could still become gravid at the expense of her health. And the little could be hurt by the other dragons.
