SHE MADE A NEST!!

viperbitex Feb 25, 2005 05:03 PM

HI!! Just had to tell everone that my female blue made a nest in the little tub I made her!! I took a big tupper-ware tub (1' 1/2 tall x 2' deep x 2' long filled with aspan and brick mulch) then I put her fancy shmancy cave in there too, and last night when I went to check on them, she had dug the bedding out from under the cave, padded the sides down so that it made the cave awhole lot deeper with sturdy dirt walls, and had her whole body in it with just her nose sticking out! When I lifted the back of the cave, to check out if she had already layed them, she kind of was standing up with her vent in the air!! fingures crossed!!! WOO-HOOO!!!

I am assuming she was bred last fall?

Are you sure she is dropping fertile eggs?

Her and my male were breeding like crazy this winter. I wish I had a digital and knew how to post pics. She's HUGE!! It's been a week or two since she made her 'nest' as I call it. She went into a laying box I made her and tunneled into it, instead of going under her regular hiding spot. She is EXTREMELY lathargec and about 2 days ago stopped eatting, but she comes out to drink. Ahh!! Soo excited!! She was bred succesfully 2 years ago, before I got her. Last year her and the male did the deed, but nothing ever developed, you know? But her whole body has swelled within the last 4 weeks, and during that time, she cut herself down on her food intake, and like I said before, now she isn't eatting food at all. Woo-Hoo!!
