Is 75 gallons a good tank size for one beardie?

duckofdomination Feb 25, 2005 05:16 PM

I was thinking of getting a 75 gallon tank for a beardie. Is this big enough? also If it is, where do I get a cover for a cage that size?
Thanks in advance!

Wut are its dimensions? Sometimes tanks are really big, but are also too skinny. And im guesign u'll either have to special order or make a screen for the top o f a tank that size.

No, I have a 75 gallon tank, they dont make that one in two different sizes like the smaller tanks (i.e. 20L or 20H) I have one and I looked for a while. If you have local pet stores, some not all but some may carry the screen tops, if they dont you might want to ask a lot of stores can order them within a couple of days. I know cuz thats what I had to do. Hope that helps.

I really like this size tank...even our German Giant female seems to have enough room--and our regular sized male is in dragon heaven with a multi-level rock wall and plenty of roaming room.

I'm NOT a carpenter but I made a decent hinged screen top for our males tank. Both of our tanks have that plastic divider/support in the top frame. I used that to rest the homemade tops (one for each side). I used wood and heavy metal screening (1/4in mesh) and they are strong enough to rest the lights on. I spent around $15 and still have materials for our other tank.

Our female's tank came with a 2 glass tops. We keep one on and I plan on making a screen top for the other side--basking side.

I use a 90gallon tank, its almost the same dimensisons as a 75 only taller. Although in reality i would rather have a 75 because it would be easier to get the heat to her...

as far as a lid...they do make them although most stores dont carry them regularly. You can try to find a store to special order one, or if you dont want to wait you can buy two screen lids for 40gallon breeder tanks, use pliers to flatten out the lip on one side of each of them and just slide them over each other. I know a few people who have done this, including myself, and it works pretty well.
