She was just so bad that I couldn't stand to put her through anymore.
I always felt that the freezer method seemed so cruel, and I thought that I would never do that. However, I called the vet this morning to schedule a proper euthanasia for her, and it was just so long before it could happen. I went to work feeling like dirt for leaving her like that. Soon as I got a break I came home to check on her, and I don't believe she was conscios in any way. The only sign of life was extremely slow and sporadic respiration. So I did. I stuck her in the freezer. I felt it was the best I could do at the time.
The vet did a necropsy this evening. It was inconclusive. (She graciously allowed me to observe and even dig around in there a bit, to see what I could learn.)
There seemed to be nothing unusuall, except a blood clot at the end of the intestinal tract. That has been sent to lab.
I spent over $500 and many sleepless nights trying to save that snake. I still can't find where I went wrong.........
The vet didn't think I did anything wrong, that it was just "one of those things." I just can't rest, though. I have ten other snakes that I am worried to death about!!
Thanks greatly for all the help and advice I have recieved here.
