they are more secretive and don't necessarily eat every week or on a schedule we select. By secretive, I mean they spend alot more time in their hidebox than other snakes generally. Capes will eat sporadically at times which tends to bother some people who keep them. They are a slender pituophis and I've seen some people who will try to get them to put on girth, which capes just won't seem to do. I love them myself. They are difficult if you want them to eat when you want and have a large girth or be cruising around their tank alot so you can see them. If you keep in mind their behavior is different than other pituophis and be flexible to adjust to this behavior, they are a nice addition to any collection. Sometimes we're a difficult herper and it takes time for us to adjust to our captive snake.

from the get go. LOL How's the pair doing over at your place. You said they're eating adult mice. Do you think they are difficult snakes?

I moved them into larger cages that cant be seen into very well plus a couple hide boxes. I have found they prefer not to be messed with to much. I also put the cages up about eye level so they dont see to much action either. I would they are easy to care for, just need a bit more attention and like you said you have to feed them on their schedual. Maybe not a good snake for a first time herper.
