Question about heating my Bearded at night

firefighter2598 Feb 25, 2005 09:22 PM

Hey everyone please help with a little issue I have. At night my dragons cage gets down too low and all of my light fixtures are wired to one plug (duh). I was thinking of using the great evil, a heat rock. Any opinions on this? other than NO NO NO. Any other ideas about what I could use heat the cage at night would be great. Obviously a heat emitter would be out because that would require all fixtures be on and I dont want to leave light on all the time. Thanks for your help.

How low is too low? For instance, it is cold where I live and many of my dragons get down to the low 60's or 60 at night with no problem - babies and adults. That is to say, it is not a health concern. I do believe it affects their "cycles" though in terms of activity, food intake etc.

But to answer your question more directly, you can use "night" bulbs and heat mats as supplemental heat if you desire. Personally I would pass on the heat rock.

Good luck,

Ian

If you have no other outlet, what will you plug the heat rock to?
