Getting a Mate

BryanR. Feb 25, 2005 09:56 PM

I'm looking foward to giving my dragon a friend, or a mate... not so far in the future. I plan on doing a full renovation with a full waterfall (the bottom of the tank will be mostly water. Lots of branches, ledges, all kinds of stuff. My point is I want to ensure plenty of places for the female to get away if she needs her space. The enclosure i have is onl 6 x 4 x 2 I wish it was x 3 but theres not much i can do now. I plan on spending 100 dollars on the renovation. and 100-200 for the female... Anyways do you guys know what the foam stuff is people use to great realistic terrain? I want to use that for my waterfall and to make the ledges realistic etc. Where can I learn more about this?

Remember when you re-do the viv that if you leave the entire bottom water/water features you have no where to put a laying box for your female. As she approaches 18-24 mos. she'll likely need one. Some females will lay their eggs anywhere, but others are more picky and can become egg bound if not provided with a suitable laying box. Just something to keep in mind while you're planning your new set-up. My viv is the same size as your's and I, too, wish I could have made it larger BUT I'm satisified with mine and the dragons are happy and thriving. Post some pics when the remodeling is complete!

Where did you keep the hatchlings? I hear that the adults could eat them, so did you have like a 55 gallon tank for them or something? And did you donate them to a good petstore or sell them? Thanks!
