Incubation and Humidity

unf Feb 26, 2005 02:47 PM

The eggs have been in the incubator for 4 days and I checked on them today. They were layed in a group and were all stuck together. I used perlite and water and put the eggs on a plastic grate. I noticed some small dents on two of the eggs. These two eggs were on the outside of the group and were kinda angled up (standing up). Since the eggs were soft when they hatched I did not know if this was caused by low humidity or just the way they settled. Any comments????

Pictures of your setup would be nice, but i have a couple of ?:

1- Size and type of container used for eggs.

2- How much water in container.

3- How is container sealed?

4- what type of incubator and at what temp.

I am using a hova bator incubator(no fan). I have a helix thermostat and the temp ranges from 88 - 89. I have the eggs in a plastic container with lid (air tight). I put the eggs in vermiculite last night (50 / 50 by weight). The humidity is now up to 80%. It is kinda hard to see the dents in the eggs because they are small. This is my first clutch so I do not know if the small dents are normal or not.
How often will I have to add water to the vermiculite????
Thanks for the reply. Its hard to see the dents in the picture.
