I went out hiking today and got a few photos of the sun and greennesss here before the next rain hits. It's been a very wet year and the grass is thick. The Rugosus are finally starting to come out in numbers.

Cable-we are still getting a lot of overcast days with light rain. Everything is starting to green up, but we have yet to have gotten inot any type of warmth. They killed a 6ft western diamond back in the town of Hondo, so looks like some of the reps are attempting to come out when we get some warmth, I still am assuming that we are not going to have horned lizards out until late April. I will start walking some of the area's here in a few weeks if we start getting warmth. My own experience with the Texas Horned Lizard in this area is that the ground temps have got to be around 95 or so before they really start coming out and eating. Ususally the ants are out way before the horned lizards in this area. I have noticed the baby swift lizards, small skinks and anoles around my yard from time to time if there is some warmth out, but horned lizards here need that higher temp range before they start showing. For the sake of conversation, I have found many more females when they first come out than males. I will see if this holds true again this year. Last yeat the first 5 horned lizards I observed were females and the ratio of females to males seems to be higher in the areas that I frequent, I'll pass along info as I get it. I hope to take a lot more pictures this year, and spend more quality time observing. I'll keep in touch......Oh boy spring is around the corner !! It's about time!!!!
