What humidity levels do you keep your chameleons at?
hello, depends on what kind of cham you have.please give us the size of cage and the species. i have a jackson and he needs humidity levels around 75% so i use an ultrasonic cool mist humidifier that goes on for 15 minutes every hour and i hand mist a couple of times a day. alot of keepers use automatic misters.good luck and next post include specs of your setup matt
I have 2 graceful chameleons.
The cage is 24 x 36
The humidity seems to stay around 50 until I spray the cage then it goes up to 65-70
Thanks for the help.
I just responded to your earlier post about the gracefuls. You can't keep two in that size cage, so be ready to either build another cage or find another home for one. I have not kept gracefuls myself, so am not certain about the humidity level the species prefers. But, in the mean time you can do several things to keep the cage more humid. First, it shouldn't be highly humid 24/7, but range from moderate to high in cycles instead, and this will depend a lot on your house climate and the room. If the cage has a lot of foliage it will really help. You can spray the foliage really well several times a day or get an ultrasonic room humidifier and cycle it on and off using an appliance timer. The humidifier won't produce enough condensation for drinking water, but will keep the cage from getting too dry between sprayings. The Petr Necas book mentioned earlier is excellent and worth getting. I think you can buy it through Kammerflage Kreations at http://www.calumma.com
