Whoa! Okay, you mean to tell me you got him and immediately put him to work breeding? Do you have any idea how stressed he could be? How about quarantine? I'm sorry to say but what you just did was somewhat stupid. Most people would think about alot of things before just "dumping" a new male in with their females. Other people will definately back me up on this one. If I didn't understand your post or what you meant I'm sorry but I'm concerned that your trying to move a little to fast here.

Yes... I'll admit it... I did something dumb REALLY DUMB!!! I I got exiced way to fast, but it wasn't just dumping him in there. I did let him settle in before breeding him, and I checked with Garrick to make sure he was ok. I also removed him immedadley (sp) after he bred and he is now back in his own tank. I also treat all of my geckos (3) with the same amount of care and love,no matter how much they are worth. I am sorry, and I admit it, I did something STUPID!!!

So what! Who cares! You think he knows he's worth $110? Probably not which means he's wondering why your treating him different than any other leo. Are you saying that if he just happened to be a reg morph you would have done the right thing and let him settle in and such? Geckos are worth practically what we say they are worth but really they are the same except for the different colors/morphs. You don't need to rush into breeding him just becuase he cost you alot of money..you need to treat him just like any other gecko.

Katie, I think you need to ease up just a bit..... Comming from me this is saying something.....LOL..... So what if he bred the male in a time that YOU think is too soon..... I dont think he did anything "stupid"..... The animal is from a top breeder so it is not likely there will be anything to worry about as far as parasites or any other sickness..... As far as being stressed, he would not have bred with the female if he was..... Take a pill and relax.... For some reason, I detected alittle bit of jealousy in your posts.....

By the way MacArthur, that is a great looking leo..... I hope it produces great looking babies for you.....

peachstategeckos Feb 26, 2005 11:24 PM

Ok I get what your saying..sorry for overreacting it's just I've seen so many people post about there new "hi end" gecko and they just can't wait to get started breeding. People need some patience. Other people see these same posts and think it's ok and then their geckos are getting no time to settle down before being expected to "do something". There are alot of people though that I've seen on f au na that get attacked even worse for the same thing that happened here and the people doing the attacking are well know trusted breeders so really I'm not the only people who think the gecko needs a break and time to settle in. I understand geckos coming from Garrick are probably free of parasites but still they do need time. Nice gecko though.

Garrick is a great guy and has great animals, but you cannot assume that they will be free of parasites. On two separate occasions I bought from him and had parasite problems. One gecko had to be put down and the other received treatment and recovered (took months to start eating on his own again) Don't get me wrong - Garrick has some of the nicest geckos I have seen. He was very understanding and compensated me for the geckos - I'm just saying that you can never assume.

Z10, true enough.... You are correct to not assume.....

Katie, your thoughts were in the right place....LOL.... You just started to sound like me for a second....LOL

manhattanherps Feb 27, 2005 01:54 AM

the gecko was with him for about a week befor he bred it..he didnt go there, come home with him, and then throw him in the tank with the female, now that would be stupid, he gave the gecko time to settle in..the leo would have been so much more stressed if it was shipped to him, but it was not, people have been jumping to conclusions alot here lately..

Hey, nice looking leo. I have been buying my leos from Garrick probably about 4 years now and I have never had a problem w/ parasites or them not eating.

I know I'm only one of many people that buy from him but I have also visited his facility and worked w/ his geckos as well. They are well fed, watered and taken care of.

What kind of parasites did you leos have if you don't mind sharing?

Well Once Again A Nice Leo!!!

They had pinworms - Didn't show any symptoms at all when they arrived, just never ate. Vet said they had to have had the worms prior to when I got them. I was in no way trying to to put down Garrick as he delt with the situation very professionally and I would certainly buy from him again.
