Eggs...?

Keeperpsycho Feb 26, 2005 11:24 PM

Ok, first thing, I wasn't quite surw which forum to post this in, but this seemed the best bet.

... and please excuse my spelling

I have a 55 Gallon tank set up vertically (so it's 4 feet high rather than 4 feet long) with 4 tokay geckos housed in it. Also housed in the enclosure happens to be one Cuban Tree Frog, and on rather large hermit crab. I use the hermit crab to help keep things clean by eating crickets and things that my tokays have left over. The Cuban is just kinda extra. There is also live plants in the tank.

To my question...

I recently round quite a large amount of eggs in my tank. I'm pretty sure there not my tokays (although i really hoped that they were >. 0

Ok eggs are grey in apperance, leathery to the touch. about the size of a pinhead. Species in tank Included:
2 Hermit crabs 1 decesed
4 Tokay geckos
1 Cuban tree frog

If you know what these eggs are, please tell me. I think they may be the crabs.

They're definetly not gecko eggs because they would be white and harder. Other than that we may need a pic or you may need to post your question in the frog forum. I have no idea what hermit crap eggs look like and if they're frog eggs I'm surprised that the hermit crab didn't eat them. Either way I doubt there are usable and should probably be disposed of.

thanks, that's what i figured. I came to belive that most frogs layed their eggs in water (with the exception of certain tropical tree frogs), and these eggs were left on/in the substrate without any certain determing order. No clumps, no nest, just left everywhere in the tank.

I'm also think that the hermit crabs should have eaten them, but there were quite alot of them so it is possible that they did without my knowledge.
