Dumb Noob Question again

spinecrawler Feb 27, 2005 01:31 AM

Why do i see little paint splotches of color on the beardies in the pics of many beardies? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Also what does holdback mean with respect to these lizards, same as anywhere else?, breeder gets a portion of the money you make if you sell, or something like that?

Thanks

The paint spots are so the breeder can tell the dragons apart.

Holdbacks are dragons the breeder decides not to sell, to use in future breeding projects.

If holdbacks are dragons they aren't going to sell then why do i see a lot of holdbacks for sale? Is it that they will sell them after they have bred them then?

They may keep them for a year or so and then need to sell them, maybe they ran out of room or are getting out of the business, or the dragons didn't turn out as nice as they thought they would as adults, there are any number of reasons to sell a holdback. Basically it means they didn't sell them as hatchlings.
