A little more from the fields...

crimsonking Feb 27, 2005 05:59 AM

.... met up with friends Sat.(2/26) and Russ was able to get the first king of the day within about 10 minutes. This one was under some debris:

Later he found this very nice king in another field a few miles away:

In all there were 7-8 kings found. Some under rocks and boards and some like the 2nd one here, just out and about near a canal.
More later.

... but one of the more interesting finds of the day, one in our group uncovered this FL brown snake in some rotting vegetation. Very large for the ssp. I believe at 17".
Oddly light too.

Very cool shots and info. Where are you located? - I'm guessing S. Florida? Any details? Thanks!

I'm in Tampa but we met up with Bill Love and a few others for a day of herping in the sugarcane fields of FL near Clewiston.
