Best Substrate to use??

nat13 Feb 27, 2005 10:00 AM

I was just wondering from your experience, what type of substate works best?? I am using bark chips, but am wondering if that's why my young crested isn't eating crickets... because he can't find them?? Seems to be eating the CGD OK - but haven't counted any missing crickets since I've had him (3weeks now).

If you want the natural look then bed-a-beast coco fiber works well, crickets dont hide in it and geckos are not in danger of ingesting chunks of it. If you are looking for low maintenance paper towels will win every time.

I use eco-earth in my crested habitats. It seems to hold humidity pretty well and if they eat some of it, it doesn't seem to hurt them. I use paper towels though with very small geckos.
