Question about breeding

jag Feb 27, 2005 04:45 PM

I have a male Tremper Albino that I am trying to get to breed to several of my females. I have one problem. He has absolutely NO interest in breeding. I know he's fully mature, I mean he is 100 grams for pete's sake. I also know that it is him. I have put one of my other males with the females and they were trying to "attack" her within seconds. Is there any way to get my bashful boy to take an interest? Thanks for any help.

I've heard that putting a reluctant breeder in with the females along with some poop from another male can get them interested. It makes them feel like they've got competition.

You can also check and see if your females are ovulating. This is when they are most receptive to the advances of the male. I've got some males that are always ready to breed whether the female wants to or not, I've got others that seem to wait until she's ready. Maybe he's just being polite

Gorgeous lizard

I've had a male like that before, and found out I had more luck with putting the female in his tank. I don't know if it was just the stress of being taking out of his territory and put into a different environment or what, but he was not interested in breeding at all when I put him in with the females, but responded almost immediatly when I put the females in with him.

Anyway, hope you'll get him to breed, and good luck!
