Well I made you look, this male iguana was droped off to me,supposedly a 10 yr captive,a little thin, but has 2 perfect white patches on its back, apearing to be 5 or more sheds on top of one another, but absolutly raw flesh underneath.Owner "claims"this iguana will only eat fried chicken !(well I have 7 iguanas as old as 11 yrs and none ever get chicken !)that aside, the vet is unsure what it is and has taken "scrapings".any other sugestions?this is a perfect 5 ft specimen,BUT from head to tip of tail, belly, everything,is RED,brighter even more than the male "in season"colors !could this be one of the mistery red iguanas ? or is it a deficency?(chicken diet)we have him eating squash greens and fruits,no problem, hes very listless, but no soft bones swelling,or anything out of the ordinary in his fecal.any sugestions apreciated.
Screwey huh?

I'm almost sure those white spots are burns, you should look up info on how to treat it. If I'm wrong I know someone will correct me, but I've seen burns and that is exactly what they look like. -Joe

Two years ago i rescued an iguana that had some skin problems like 3 or 4 skin sheds one on top of the other in some areas of his body. In his case this was caused by lack of vitamins. The new skin could not be formed so the old skin didnt shed.I gave him vitamins and a good diet and lots of warm baths. It took him a few months to be fully recovered but that guy was really in a bad shape. So bad i called him ZOMBIE.

Last year a friend of mine brought me another iglet that had the same problem. The iglet was beautiful but my friend told me that since she started working full time her mum was taking care of the iglet and her mum was giving him only lettuce to eat. I said to my friend to scold her mum because she was responsible for her iglet skin problems. I said to her also to improve her iglet diet what she did and in one month the skin problem had disappeared.
