Getting my first green anaconda tomorrow!

Toshi Feb 27, 2005 07:11 PM

I cannot wait. I have been wanting one for awhile now and this opportunity just presented itself. It is an 0.1 baby (about 3') and is supposedly a reliable eater. I will post a photo when I get her home tomorrow night (just to let you know...I do have experience with large boids...boa, burm, retic).

are you the guy that breeds Tosa Inu's? Just wondering if this was you... If it is you...awesome dogs! I can't seem to get the right size on these guys. How big do they get (weight/height)? and how do they do with other dogs? Thanks. If this is the wrong Toshi, my apologies for wasting your time. Have a good one.

Yes... that is me and thanks for the compliment (as regards my Tosas). Tosas vary considerable in size due the the various weight classes/bloodlines (similar to human boxing weightclasses). My males range from 135 - 180lbs and my females range from 100 - 140lbs. Tosas can vary in dog aggression / dominance tendancies. Some may only react when another dog tries to intimidate them while others are more outwardly aggressive towards other large dogs. In contrast to their "issues" with some dogs, the Tosa is extremely affectionate with people.

She's dehydrated and thin but hopefully she will come around.

Beautiful, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get him/her?

I got her locally (here in Nova Scotia) from a guy who took her in on trade and knew that I was looking for some. I am not sure where she came from originally (probably an import or CB).

I let her soak in a large water dish last night to rehydrate. This morning I took her our of the large dish (replaced with a smaller one which she cannot fit into) and she proceded to enter her humidity hidebox. I then placed a few week old rat pup (live) outside the entrance to the hidebox. The rat walked in the door and BAM!... she took it imediately.
