Does any one have a moss box in their cage

Rottenweiler9 Feb 27, 2005 08:55 PM

And if so do you leave water at the bottom of it so it brings the humidity higher or do you just soak your moss and drain the water out, so the moss is wet?

Thanks
Jeff

I keep a moss box in all my cages. What I do is spray down the moss with warm water 2-3 times a day, I don't really leave a lot of water on the bottom, but I don't see how that would hurt anything. If you have a lid on the box and just a way for the snake to get in and breathe, then humidity stays in very good. If you are going to leave water on the bottom, make sure it stays luke warm though, it will deffidently be more comfortable on the snake. Hope this helps!

I keep a box of moist sphagnum moss in my superdwarf retic cages. They are just 15 qt. sterilite boxes with a hole cut in the lid for access. I mist the enclosures daily with a hand mister to keep the overall humidity up and I hit the box of moss every couple of days to give it the appropriate moisture content. I don't leave any water in the bottom. They spend quite a bit of time in the boxes, and it seems to work fine because they have complete sheds and healthy skin. Hope it helps.
