Hi, I was on a small island, maybe 1-2 miles long, .5-1 mile wide, called Passion Island, its a tourist island that my cruise let us visit for 3 hours, we kyaked there from Cozumel. My sister and her friend and my mom and her boyfirend and friend were sunbathing, but I went exploring in the woods (I'm 17). I saw tons of brown/ gray colored anoles, a huge hermit crab, but no other snakes or lizards.
Then, on the way back to the beach, I spotted a 2 foot long (aprox) iguanid of some sort, on the ground, with dark stripes runnnign veritcal on its side. I immediatly saw a fist sized hole in the sand/leaf/seaweed mixture that made up the ground. It was under a bunch of trees, but really close to the beach.
I later regretted it, but I aproached slowly, but as I got closer it ran to teh burrow as I feared, and I never found it again. I tried for like 45 minutes, but no go. I was pucning myself later for not circling and trying to scare it AWAY from its burrow, but anyway, lol, what was it? Thanks!
