New Burm Cage Heating Question........

Circusfan Feb 28, 2005 04:48 PM

Hi everyone. Well my new Burm cage is all built and ready to go, but I have to add the heating elements to it. I had wanted to ask if Flexwatt is OK to use inside the cage? I have a Cobra mat with thermostat for the floor on one side, but I wanted to add a piece of Flexwatt on each of the underside of the doors. The doors are on top of the cage. I figured this would help keep the ambient temp up, at least until summer comes. Any thoughts? Please respond as I have to go and buy the Flexwatt tomorrow.

Thanks.

I would be a little concerned using heat tape like that. I have never used it personally so i could be wrong here but i have been told that the connections arent that tight and sounds like maybe it could possibly come off with opening the doors (if i'm understanding you right).
You might try using a black or red light on the cool side to help with the ambient temps...just make sure you put a wire cage or somthing around it so the snake cant get to it
