any ideas on probe placement

i just bought a helix thermostat and a helix heat pannel should i drill a hole through the top and place the probe a couple inches from the bottom they say not to let it contact anything or it will give off a false reading or have it off to one side of a wall any ideas would be great thanks for any help it will be going into an enclosure thats 48x24x32 and it will be linned with 1/8 inch sheets of plastic thanks for any help

where do your lizards spend most of the time? If they are arobrial, thus having a couple branches for them to live on (like you would for a green tree python or amazon tree boa), then you want it on the highest perch.

If it's a typical lizard that's going to be on the ground quite a bit, it depends on the type of thermostat you have. If it is one that you just twist the dial, put it right on the substrate and get a thermometer and adjust it accordingly. If it's one that tells you the temp, you want to suspend it about an inch above the substrate, unless you want to get a second thermometer

its a dbs-1000 propotional from helix and so is the pannel i will be useing it for night time heat so it wont go below 80 i am keeping yellow ackies it the enclosure for day heat im useing a 45 watt outdoor flood light was just wondering if i suspend the probe?
