Creating a refrigeration unit

I am curious whether anyone has attempted to create a refrigeration unit from a standard refrigerator. I have a refrigerator that stays at about 48 degrees, but I would like to somehow alter it so that it remains at 67 degrees. I have thus far been unsuccessful in my quest to find a repairman with any kind of knowledge of such a procedure, but I thought I might be more successful asking people who don't cringe when I tell them I am trying to create an optimal temperature range for salamanders... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
