Where you live, I got this book about frogs and toads, and i've looked at the pictures of the toads. And some of them look like the toad, but if you tell me what state and what city you live by it would help me identify it much easier.

Well it's not mine, it's a friend of mines...I know he's in California, but im unsure of exactly where.

Hope that helps, and thanks!

is it maybe a Bufo exsul? I've only ever seen a few photos of them so I'm not sure

That's what came to my mind to, and if I remember correctly, they have an extremely limited range. You might want to find out exactly where your friend is located to see if this is a possibility. Good luck,

They were sold to me as Black and White Toads ( obviously , hahaha ) but noone had a Latin name for them . They are Long Term animals which a customer raised up for several years . They didn't know what they were either . I'm in Southern California but they look nothing like any Bufo species found here or anywhere in N.A. www.TheFrog.org suggested that it was Bufo spinulosus but , I have yet to see a good picture of one . The picture shown is only the head . Feel free to keep trying on this little toadie . : )

I'm not sure, but my guess would be maybe a Fowlers or a Gulf Coast Toad.

What a great looking toad. Never saw one like that real nice.

I would agree that it looks similar to the Black Toad, Bufo exsul. If this is the right species i would recommend that your friend maybe do some reading on them, as they are a threatened species. It is a beautiful frog. Here is a web site that has pics and info:

hope this helps a little
