Your getting ripped off. I get my food from 2 different sources and they run about $12 per 50lbs. I usually buy a ton at a time though so I get a decent deal, but $50 is still highway robbery.
Do a google search for distributors in your area.

We pay around $9 per 50# bag here, we have to buy $100 worth to get that price, but its still a hell of alot less than $50 a bag
We use Harlan Teklad rodent diet and have seen no problems after using it for over 3 years.

We pay $9.07 for I think an 18# bag or 181.50 for 20 bags at a time.
I'm pretty sure those are 18-20# bags not 50#. If they are 50# we need to talk....you are getting a way better deal then us. Let me know??

We are buying 33# bags for $9.07 per bag. This would be $13.74 for a 50# bag @ .275 cents per pound. Still a ton better the $50.....ouch!

You really are paying through the nose. I spend $19 Cdn. ($14 US) for a 50 lb. bag of Mazuri 6F. Try a local feed shop.

I was using Mazuri 6F but paying $12.50 per bag was not cutting it. FRM is great for rats, protein a little low for mice. If your interested in there contact info, let me know, I'll have to look it up but I have it somewhere.
