A few updated lineaticollis pics

gofer Feb 28, 2005 10:01 PM

These guys grow like weeds eat anything in site! I can't wait to see them all as adults! You can't tell much by these so-so pics, but there is a nice hint of red and green coloration in there.

Have a good one,

Gregg F.

This guy is pissed off ever time I get him out of his cage ,and he can open his mouth a lot wider if he wants too, straight up and down.

Won't they be so much fun at 7-8 feet if they decide to pull that stunt... Does he calm down after you have him out for a few minutes? Mine seems pretty calm, some tail rattling and little hissing, but hasn't struck just yet. Maybe i should try handling her a little more often.

Thanks for the nice series of pics Jason!

at a glance, they remind me of subocs......

gofer Mar 03, 2005 11:45 AM

One more reason i love working with them...if you take a look Dan you can see my suboc collection keeps growing, lol. An albino male and i'll be set with those guys! By far my favorite rats to work with. I hope to get you one or two this year if all goes well!

I recently saw and photographed the mom of all your lineaticollis', and my trio too - I'm doing taxonomic research on this species in the museum and in the field. Believe me, they will not look or feel like rat snakes when they are grown. The mom is just over 8 feet (maybe 8'2" or so) and has the weight of a very large pine snake, but more muscle tone and more agile. A handful of snake - and very beautiful.

If I can figure out how to downsize the 1 mb pics I took of her I'd post them - will try later today.

HI Craig

Thanks for some more insight on these Pits . Wow over 8'long amazing. They sure have good eyesight for Pituophis .

Hope to see some pics you took .

thanks jason

Hello Craig,
I hope the research goes well for you. I can't wait to see them even at 6 feet, what an impressive snake. Thanks for the details, and if you do get a chance to downsize the pics through a photoshop type program I would really enjoy seeing them. Or if you could send them to me through an e-mail I won't mind waiting for them to load.

Thanks again, and best of luck with your trio!
