does anyone have good advice on switching from mice to rats. my dumeril is a voracious feeder when it comes to mice, but i can't get her to take rats. she takes frozen mice likes its her job. i've been trying for the past 2 months and she's shown no interest. i keep the mice and rats together and thaw them together as well and try to feed the rat first. any advice?

The way that works for me best is to thaw a mouse and a rat in the same container. Then when the are both nice and warm i will rub the two together. The sent usually get them to take and then after a few times of feeding them this way they seem to accept unscented rats. hope this helps ya.

do you feed both the rat and the mouse, and if so which first? i've been thawing them together in the same container but it doesn't seem to help, haven't tried rubbing though, thanks

If your dumerils is eating mice, What I have tried is putting a rat pup, one that still has his eyes closed in the dumerils cage, over night. A few times they will take the rat pup, I don't recomend feeding live prey, but if the rat pup still has his eyes closed I have never had a problem. After a few times of trying that I have never had a problem getting them switched over. Good luck.
