WOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

el_toro Mar 01, 2005 11:12 AM

Arthur dropped her eggs this morning!!!!!! She laid 10 eggs, 8 of which appear to be viable. She hissed at me several times as I was removing them. She's very spunky, though thin and undoubtedly tired. She completely ignored her nest box and scattered them in the millet on the cool side of the cage. I hope they'll be ok!

Here was the before picture:

Here's after:

And some of the eggs in the incubator:

If anyone has advice or tips, I'm very eager to hear them! I want to give these eggs the best chance possible. Also, any help for post-laying care for Arthur? I just gave her a meal with plenty of calcium and set up a small water dish for her. Anything I should do? Soak? Send flowers? Mail announcements? I guess I should save passing out cigars for if and when they hatch...

yaaaaaaaaaaaaay! go arthur! i would send flowers, but the edible type with no pesticides i know nothing about uro eggs, except you should lay them in the incubator the same way they were laid in the sand, well, millet. i hope everything is ok. it is going to be a long 70 days!

Very cool! Congratulations

Congratulations on all those eggs! That's a very impressive clutch size. Arthur may look thin but she looks like she's still got some good fat storage in her tail. Way to go!!

BTW, do you think your male can give my male Ra some tips on how to get the ladies?

I had a word with Joe and he suggested Ra might be helped the most by growing an inch or two! Isis is twice his size! He also suggested getting some Barry White albums and some really nice wine.

Congratulations Torey! How exciting for you!! My only suggestion would be to have the eggs a little deeper in the vermiculite. It is also a good idea to use a fine marker to make a little line on the top of the egg so you know it is always in the same position. I hope to see pics of little uros in the near future. Best of luck to you.

Pam
