My 5 month old corn snake has just swallowed a small pinkie sized piece of wood that was being used for substrate. my friend told me to wait until the morning to see if she was any different but I dont think I can wait that long. Can someone help me by telling me what to do to help her!!!

Your snake will likely regorge the wood chip on its own, but a trip to the vet is not out of the question. I don't think a chip the size of a pinky can be passed through the GI tract f a small corn, but it has to come out one way or the other. So, I would look for a regurge soon.

If that does take place, you'll need to give your corn a week to ten days to recover its stomach acids before it is ready to be fed again. Please, if you get the chance to continue to take care of your little charge, please don't feed it in its substrate. Snakes are not overly bright sometimes, and if something smells of food, especially once they're in "feeding mode," it is a near guarantee that the snake will try to eat that object.

Thanks for the information. I will try not in future feed my snake on the substrate but on a piece of paper!
If I see any change in Smeagol then I will contact my local vet immediately!
Thanks again
