Sliding glass doors

dfisk Mar 01, 2005 06:13 PM

I'm building a cage with sliding glass doors, that will house a ball python. The track I have for the doors fits glass that is .25 inches thick. I have a quote from a hardware store for 3/16 in. glass, for $7/piece for the size I need. That's the thickest they sell. At a glass shop, they have the .25 inch glass, but it is almost $16/piece for the size I need. Will the 1/16 of an inch make any significant difference as far as how it fits in the track, and whether it will be strong enough? Should I just go with the more expensive to be safe?

thanks!

Unfortunatly, all of the track I have ever worked with had to have 1/4 inch glass. I think your going to have to buy the big stuff. Sorry I couldnt give ya btter news. To make sure you could ask the place where you bought your track just to make sure but I think you are kinda screwed.

I'm pretty sure most of the 1/4" glass sold in the US is actually 3/16". Others here have posted that it works fine in 1/4" track.

I'll measure my bearded dragons glass later tonight. I'm pretty sure it's 3/16 in 1/4" K&P track.
