Found this little guy, Please help id!

My friend called me today from work. They had found this little guy and put him in a cup as he was not in a safe place. He knew I had a lizard set up that was empty so I agreed to take him in and try to do what I could for him. He's very small, about 1". At first look I thought maybe some type of Gecko but someone else thought maybe a monitor. I live in South Carolina so he must be an offspring from someone's pet who got away.

So does anyone have any info on how to keep these. Should I keep him with him being a wild caught gecko? what should I feed a lizard this small?

Here's a link to a care sheet. They are very simple to keep.

these guys are also found in arizona and texas and can deal with some of the lower humidities, also they're nocturnal and dont really rely on uv that much, i use a house light on mine. also we offer a small dish with calcium powder on it which they seem to use often. these guys are really easy to take care of.
