Feeding roaches...

pweaver Jul 08, 2003 08:40 AM

I bought some Orange Head roaches for my panthers, but neither seemed real interested in them yet. For you roach feeders, how do you normally feed the roaches to your chams. Do you let them free range, or use some kind of feeding container? I tried free ranging, but eventually the roaches crawled under the plant that's in their cage. When they were in a container, they either hid under whatever food I left in with them, or else hardly moved at all and the chams didn't notice. Any suggestions?

Chams usually have to try a food before they decide to like them. You may have to hand feed one or two if your chams will take food from you. Try attaching a vertical stick in the feeder container so the roaches climb up trying to get loose. There is a really ingenious live feeder idea from Bill Strand on www.chameleonnews.com under "tips".
