Getting my tang leo tomorrow!

chibicricket Mar 01, 2005 08:30 PM

I'm finally getting my super hypo-tang leo from Urban Gecko tomorrow. I'm so excited! I'll post pics tomorrow. My 25th bday is Monday, so this is my little b-day present to myself.

One quick question though... Do leos need UVA/UVB rays at all, or is it just heat? I have a basking bulb that contains both, but I was wondering if it was nessacary. I'm used to iguanas that need all that.

Hey!
Happy Birthday!
I am also getting a hypo tang leo from Urban - ours must be in the same shipment. However, Craig left me a message telling me that they had to postpone shipping just one more day due to a snow storm. So I think I will be getting my girl on Thursday. This is my first leo from Urban and I am sooooo excited! I already named her "Cheeto" and have a 10-gallon set up for her. In a few months, I am going to put her in the 40 gallon with my other 3 girls. I am crossing my fingers that they will get along - my lil' devils are old and grouchy! hahaha
Can't wait to see some pics - I will share some of mine as well.

Leos do not need UVA/UVB lighting cuz they are nocturnal and only come out in the evening. In fact, I think that exposing them to UVA/UVB lighting when supplementing with D3 can be somewhat harmful. I would stick to a UTH (belly heat makes them feel good!) and a heat lamp when the air temps are colder. Everything else is provided in the calcium supplements you are giving them. I personally use Miner-All Indoor.
Hope that helps!

Yeah, he's supposed to be shipping them out of Buffalo, NY today. I live in Buffalo, so my bf is actually just going to meet his shipper at the UPS place and pick the leo up. It snowed here pretty bad yesterday, but today looks a lot worse. I'm hoping everything goes well today.

Thanks about the lighting info too!
