Hello.. My Res is about 5 inches or so. I don't know how old he is. He refuses to eat any kind of veggies at all.. He likes meat. I don't know if that's ok or not, but, if it's not meat he won't eat it. Other than his turtle pellets. Can someone tell me if it's ok or if there is something I can do. His water is always 78 degrees and he has plenty of time for basking. He's very active and happy unless someone tries to pick him up. He hates that. Please let me know.. Thank you!

if you want to wean your turtle off meat, you need to stop offering it. Try thinly sliced carrots. My turtle seems to like those.

Yeah, attempt to feed veggies on a day when you haven't offered any meat. The hungrier your turtle is, the more likely she is to eat veggies. Try thick green veggies like collards, mustard or dandelion greens. Thinly sliced carrots work well also. Try either clipping the leafy greens onto a clip on the side of the tank so the plants are underwater. Also try using tweazers (to avoid getting bitten) and wiggle the carrot around on the surface and slightly under the water to initiate a hunting like response. Maybe you can trick your turtle into consuming some veggies.
