ventilated top questions for Iris rack

DenverTom Mar 01, 2005 10:52 PM

Hi folks, I got some CB-39 tubs that are basically the same dimensions as the cb-70. I want to build a wood rack for adult ball pythons. I am going for a freedom breeder style where the tubs are covered by some sort of screen. I was thinking hardware cloth, but I am worried about nose rubs. Do you have any thoughts or other recommendations? Is there something that I can use to get good ventilation without compromising on something that I am missing?

Thanks alot
Denver Tom

The all ventilated tops on some racks work fine for Balls in humid areas like Florida. In the rest of the country, your heat source will heat your tub and dessicate your Ball Pythons to the point that shedding becomes a problem.

Unless you live someplace hot and humid like Florida, I would build your rack with less ventilation and trap some humidity for your pythons.

There has to be something better than expanded metal that you can use for the lids to your racks.
