Hi all:
I have have some tid-bit I d like to share about my Pigmy rattle snake Because I just love him a lot. He is the cutest little thing ever. I keep him in a small plastic container (one of those critter cages made of clear plastic. It is the medium sized one). This small container has two hide boxes and one water dish. There is just enough room for all this stuff.
I have a warm end and and a cold end. Temp range is 70 to 90. Usually, the temp stays in between 75 and 85. The little piggy likes to thermoregulate. I always am happy when he has moved from one hide box to the other because I think of it as his thermoregulating.
He craps about two to three times within one week of a meal. (he craps on day two, day four and day seven after each HUGE meal). He is a little guy but he can eat large hoppers or even small adults.
The last meal was one week ago and it was a small adult that he killed on his own. I don't plan to feed him for another two weeks (three weeks total time between large meals). [I do plan to feed smaller from now on--ie fuzzies]
There is really no point to the post. I just wanted to share my experience and talk about my beloved Pigmy. They are great beautiful little snakes!!
He was a great get ($20) from the Hamburg show. He was bought on 14 June 03. He has eaten four meals and has not shedded under my care yet. I expect him to enter shed soon.
Also, he has no rattle. I am hoping with a few sheds, he gets a rattle.
Happy Hottings!.
here is a photo. Bear with me if you have seen it before
