My New Incubator!

Christy Talbert Mar 02, 2005 05:14 AM

I got it at the Indy show last Sunday - just in time too! My first clutch is coming this week. No more styrofoam chicken incubators for me! It's holding its temp great!

Christy,
I just got my first clutch of Ball eggs and will be using the same incubator. I had Casey build one 2 inches wider for my python eggs and I have a regular one for colubrid eggs. Buy the way nice incubator Ron Radloff

Hi Ron,

I am really pleased with this purchase - the workmanship on the unit is great! It looks like it will hold about ten clutches of BP eggs for me at any one time, which is perfect. Now all I need are those eggs!

Looks very nice, who is the manufacturer? Also if you don't mind me asking how much do they run?

Thanks,

George,
First let me say the webpage you designed for Mark Petros is awesome. I've known Mark for awhile and when I complimented him on his page he gave you the credit. Nice job!!! I got the incubators from Casey Hulse of Natures Spirit / Snake Shacks. Heres a link to his ad on Kingsnake. Ron Radloff

Thanks much for the information and the compliment on the web site. They are really nice looking incubators.

I decided to build my own Incubator. I liked the Incubators when I saw them at the Midwest Reptile Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana and the fact that he upgraded and decided to put Helix Controlers on his design of Incubators. Here is the one I built. I only built if for what I thought I would be producing in the next few years. Thanks David

I am in the process of converting another freezer into second Incubator.

I've had my eye on those for a while now. I always wondered how many shoeboxes it would hold. (Did you say ten?) It looks great! My only concern would be that the Helix would best be mounted on the side. That way you could stack them. Oh, well. Maybe that'll be a custom job. =)

Thanks for the pics!

Good Things,
Chris =)

Chris,
I'm sure Casey would mount the Helix to the side or whereever you want it. He is the easiest person to get along with with superb customer service. I can get 12-6qt. shoeboxes in the regular size one. I had Casey make the second one 2 inches wider with different shelve spacing. In that one I can get 6-12 qt. and 3-41/2 qt. boxes in. Hope that helps, Ron

It does not come with the Helix mounted. He has drilled two holes in the top to mount it but you put it on yourself so changing that would be no problem.

good point Christy, didn't think of that Ron

Christy,

How many eggs will that hold? I suspect this is my last year with the Hovabators. Even with a couple and modifed to hold more, next year I'll have just too many eggs so I'm starting to look now. Was it expensive?
