I have only played with solvent welding scrap pieces edge-to-edge. I have not made the step to building an entire cage.

There is a learning curve and evidently a pretty steep one. If you follow the business you probably know that several individuals started acrylic caging companies a couple of years ago. It was all the buzz. The only ones that are still around today, at least as far as I know, are the ones who had already been doing it for a while.

Many of these smaller companies had products that would warp or yellow over time, evidently because they did not fully understand acrylic.

If you do try this then buy a high quality acrylic, trust me. Pay special attention to edge preparation and don't keep the cages in a cold room and use high wattage heat sources to heat the cages - this temperature differential is what supposedly causes them to warp. Do not use flexwatt on them.

Lastly, a google search should provide you with countless links of building your own acrylic aquaria. Lots of good information. Modify their plans for your needs. Remember, aquaria keeps don't have the warping concerns as the water creates a temperature buffer. You may still need to deal with this.

It does make wonderful cages, though.
