I've been reading posts here about what to cover plywood with so i figured I'd toss my 2 cents in.
This 3-tier enclosure is built from a "frame" which is, in reality, an IKEA storage shelf unit. These are great to start with because they come in different sizes and have adjustable shelf heights.
Each "apartment" was built the same way:
The front glass is held in place with 4 angle irons.
The back door is compressed cardboard, held with hinges and a bolt lock, covered first with an aquarium background then by contact paper.
The floor is a thin compressed board, covered by contact paper, screwed to the IKEA shelf. The ceiling was made the same way. The exposed wood at the corners are also covered with a heavy contact paper. Each has a litter dam, held in place by 2 angle irons, and holes for thermometer/heating pad wires (I use T-Rex heat pads which are safe to have inside the enclosure, on a rehostat)
After they were built, I sealed each with silicone.
Both sides of the enclosure are covered with a sheet of pegboard, which provides ventilation.
Just wanted to give anyone interested a few ideas.
