Question about incubation of eggs.

lizardboy696969 Jul 08, 2003 10:14 AM

I have heard that the sex of an egg is determined in the first two weeks depending on the temp. And that you can turn the heat up after the first two weeks. Is This True and if it is how much can you turn the temp before it effects the sex??????????

Yes, temp does affect sex...eggs incubated bewteen 80-84 often produce females and eggs incubated between 86-90 degrees often produce males...incubating around 85 would produce a mix. Turning the temps up after two weeks is too early...wait three to four weeks and then turn them up. Turning the temps up any earlier can cause complications because the baby is still developing.
